My thoughts on it all

To Lift Your Spirits

May 2, 2003 — I got this in an e-mail, and it just made my day:

[quote]Someone who teaches at a Middle School in Safety Harbor, Florida
forwarded the following letter. The letter was sent to the principal's
office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An old
lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize, and was writing
to say thank you. This story is a credit to all human kind. Forward to
anyone you know who might need a lift today!

Dear Safety Harbor Middle School,

God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior
citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Safety Harbor
Assisted Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away. I am all
alone now and it's nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God
bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady. My roommate is 95
and always had her own radio, but before I received one, she would never
let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day her
radio fell off the nightstand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was
awful and she was in tears. She asked if she could listen to mine, and
I said, 'Fuck you.'

Life is good.

funny, totally thought she was going another way...then bam! very cool lady

Wirehead says:

Heheheh....I almost said I'd like to meet her, but I bet I wouldn't. I like hearing stories about crusty, cranky old people, but usually I don't like it when the stories involve me on a first-person basis.

That's really cool. :)

Dylia says:

It is quite cool, but even though I posted it, I doubt it is true. It is pretty easy to claim something is true on the internet, it is too hard to track it back and prove/disprove it. Oh well, funny if funny.

Wirehead says:

Indeed. But I wouldn't be surprised, considering the way most of the retired people around here behave when riled. They don't have anything else to do but spoil their grandkids, fish, and get really cranky when something annoys them.

Dylia says:

You forgot: drive horribly slowly!
